La condesa de Dia nace alrededor de 1140 y fallece en Provenza en 1212, siendo la más conocida de las trovadoras, aquellas que componían música profana en los siglos XII y XIII.

Las fuentes son escasas respecto a su vida aunque podemos deducir datos históricos a través de esta cita: ‘La Condesa de Dia fue mujer de Guillermo de Poitiers, una señora bella y buena que se enamoró de Rimbaud de Orange e hizo sobre él muchas bellas canciones.
