En numerosas canciones aparece el elemento agua como propiciador de la fecundidad. Con esta connotación la fuente, elemento asociado al agua, aparece en cada estrofa de esta canción de boda propia de la tradición marroquí. Es precisamente en Marruecos donde la boda empieza antes, unos diez-quince días antes de la ceremonia con la ‘noche de la novia’, también llamada ‘noche de paños de alheña’ o ‘berberisca’. Toda una serie de rituales, con un rico simbolismo y unos cantos asociados, casi siempre interpretados por mujeres, se suceden: el compromiso; las invitaciones; la preparación y exposición del ajuar; el saftarray (la despedida de soltera el sábado antes de la ceremonia); el baño de la novia (micve); la ceremonia nupcial, la despedida de la novia, el sábado del tálamo o el día del pescado. Todo ello marca el inicio de un nuevo ciclo, que acaba con otro que ha comenzado mucho tiempo atrás, con unos novios –unos niños en la mayoría de las ocasiones- a los que las respectivas familias prometen en matrimonio.
In several songs the water element appears as a a fertility booster. The fountain appears in every verse of this traditional Moroccan song. It is precisely in Maroc where the wedding starts the earliest -from ten to fifteen days before the ceremony- with the “bride´s night” or the “henna cloth night” or “Berberisca”. This is followed by a whole range of richly symbolic rituals, each one with its own songs, which are almost always sung by women: the engagement, the invitations, the preparation and exposal of the trousseau, the Salfarray (the bachelorette party on the Saturday before the wedding) and the day of the fish. It all marks the beginning of a new cycle, which ends with another one that started a long time ago with a betrothed couple -who were mostly still children- whose families agreed for them to get married.

This album is a syncretic stew. The focus of the album is on the interacting timbres. If you are a fan of 70's prog like King Crimson, ELP and Yes then this is a must have album. I picked the second track because of the fantastic mellotron! However track 7 is also brilliant with King Crimson and Genesis being played.
The production of this album is also first class especially when you consider this was recorded live!! Gideon
