Canción ampliamente difundida y conocida entre los sefardíes de Oriente. Su texto tiene notorias conexiones con otros textos de la literatura medieval y tradicional hispánica. En Ubrique se entonaban las coplas mientras de las cuerdas dispuestas de ventana a ventana columpiaban los novios a las novias diciendo: ‘Morenita resalada, me dicen los marineros y otra vez que me lo digan, me tengo que ir con ellos’. También del cancionero de Madrid extraíamos esta otra: ‘morenita resalada, me llaman los marineros, otra vez que me lo digan me voy al muelle con ellos’ o la versión segoviana, recogida en los ‘Cantares españoles’ de 1886, que dice “morenita resalada, me llaman los marineros, otra vez que me lo llamen me tengo de ir con ellos”, por citar algunos ejemplos.
En el texto se alude a la pérdida de color blanco, sinónimo de provenir de casa pudiente, puesto que no tendría que estar expuesta a las tareas ganaderas o agrícolas que tuvieran que hacer las hijas de familias más humildes.

A widely known and disseminated song among eastern Sephardi. Its lyrics are notoriously connected to the traditional and medieval Hispanic literature. In the city of Ubrique, grooms would swing their brides from ropes hanging between two windows, while singing: "pretty dark girl is what the sailors call me, and if they call me that again, I will have to go with them". We found similar phrases in typical songs all over Spain, for example in Madrid or Segovia.
The text refers to the loss of skin fairness, which is a synonym of an affluent upbringing, since a rich young girl would not have to be exposed to the sun while doing farm chores, as would girls coming from poor families.
