Contalla és ‘allò que hom conta’. I així fou que vaig sentir aquestes contalles velles i així és que us les conte.

Es tracta d’unes albaes de nadal anomenades “Els Pastorests” i que interpreten amb ritme de 7 a Mutxamel (l’Alacantí), després de la missa del gall, amb rondalla, cantadors i balladors fent una ronda pel poble amb instruments de corda, postisses i Simbomba. Recopilat a la “Fonoteca de Materials” Volum XIV –recopilació sonora de música tradicional valenciana.
Li hem fet una adaptació, amb ampliació de les parts musicals i amb lletra nova.
Contalla es ‘aquello que se cuenta’. Y así fue que escuché estas contallas viejas y así es que os las cuento.
Se trata de unas albadas de navidad denominadas “Los Pastorets” y que interpretan con ritmo de 7 en Mutxamel (l'Alacantí), después de la misa del gallo, con rondalla, cantadores y bailaores haciendo una ronda por el pueblo con instrumentos de cuerda, castañuelas y zambomba. Recopilado en la “Fonoteca de Materiales” Volumen XIV –archivo sonoro de música tradicional valenciana.
Le hemos hecho una adaptación, con ampliación de las partes musicales y con letra nueva.

Contalla means “that which is told”. This is how I heard these old contallas and this is how I tell them to you.
These are some Christmas albadas called “Los Pastorets”, played with a 7 beat rhythm in Mutxamel (L´Alacantí) after the Midnight Mass, with rondalla, singers and dancers going around the town with their string instruments, castanets and zambomba. Gathered in the “Fonoteca de Materiales” volume XIV, a sound file of traditional Valencian music. We have adapted it, increased the instrumental parts and added new lyrics.
